Obituary of Norman R. Hosmer

CARTHAGE – Norman R. Hosmer, 69, of Sherman Street, passed away early Friday morning, April 27, 2018 at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County, surrounded by his loving family.

Norman was born in Carthage, New York on May 13, 1948, a son of the late Wheeler and Minnie (Donoghue) Hosmer.  He graduated from Carthage Central School.  He served in the United States Airforce as a Missile Maintenance Technician for 19 years and as a Carpentry Specialist for one year, providing nearly 20 years of dedicated service total.  On April 15, 2008 he married Debra Gibson.

He is survived by his wife Debra; his children, Todd Hosmer, Bobbie Jo Hosmer, Rebecca Handle, all of Carthage; Robert Hosmer, Virginia; and Jerry Hosmer, Watertown; seven brothers, Lloyd Hosmer; Terry Hosmer; Marshall Hosmer; Allen Hosmer; Leo Hosmer; Keith Hosmer; Jerry Hosmer; and six sisters, Carolyn Johnson; Susan VanArnam; Tina Hosmer; Patricia Peets; Clara Hosmer; and Peggy Hosmer. He is also survived by several grandchildren, one of which lives with them, Bridgette Handle; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Norman is predeceased by his parents Wheeler and Minnie Hosmer; a brother, Bruce Hosmer; a sister, Nancy Hosmer; and a daughter Joanne Hosmer.

Norman will be cremated. No public services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., Carthage.
