Obituary of Mark Petzoldt
CARTHAGE – Mark Stanley Petzoldt, 66, of State Route 26, passed away on Saturday evening, November 10, 2018 at his home, under the loving care of his family and Jefferson County Hospice.
Mark was born in Watertown, New York on August 9, 1952, a son of Stanley Arthur and Bernice Anna (Hinks) Petzoldt. He graduated from Carthage Central School in 1971 and went on to attend Jefferson Community College. He was a printer and photographer, managing a print shop for Carthage Central School and also working as a printer and photographer for the Carthage Tribune for a time. He also worked at the PX on Fort Drum.
On October 12, 1985 he married Donna Louise Tabolt at the Calvary Assembly of God in Carthage, New York.
Mark enjoyed creating and repairing machinery, transportation, learning new technology (computers, drones, etc.), boating, as well as hosting guests. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Donna; his mother, Bernice Petzoldt of Carthage, NY; a daughter, Jennifer Louise Petzoldt of Minneapolis, MN; a son, Jonathan Mark (Ashley Hackett) Petzoldt of Lockport, NY; a brother, Martin Arthur (Carol) Petzoldt of Whispering Pines, NC; a niece, Jamie (Mike) Jenkins and their daughter Rebecca of Selbyville, DE, as well as Jaime’s daughter, Katie of Washington; a nephew, Steven Thomas (Karen Musselwhite) Petzoldt of Pinehurst, NC; and one granddaughter, Lacey Virginia Petzoldt who was born recently on November 1, 2018.
He is predeceased by his father, Stanley Petzoldt.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Calvary Assembly of God in Carthage. A Funeral Service will be held later that day, November 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the church with Pastor David Frank officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in Hillside Cemetery, West Carthage.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Local Chapter, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057. Mark’s family will also accept donations for a memorial park bench, at a location to be decided in the near future.
