Velma was a coworker at the Times. She certainly was missed when she left, but she did set the standard for how things should be done in her department. My condolences to the family.

So sad to hear of Velma’s passing. Our prayers go out to Jimmy and the entire family. Velma was always very kind and funny plus she made great canned salsa and canned plum jam.

Velma, im gonna miss you. You always thought of the family first and the kids, you always put the kids first. I'll not forget the easter egg hunts for the kids, they had a ball you made sure there was enough eggs for everyone. I met you at Watertown Daily Times when you where an operator and you were the best, you cared about everyone and you had the patience to show us how to run the machines and youd get those machines to run just right, then you became my boss, BEST DAMN BOSS in the world wished you never retired but we know how that was. you cared about people. that's all I have to say. I love you and you will be missed terribly
