Obituary of Brian M. Whitney

CARTHAGE – Brian M. Whitney, 55, of Warner Dr., died on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his home. 

Brian was born in Gardena, California on January 19, 1963, a son of Lawrence Wallace Whitney and Sandra Kay (Newberry) (Whitney) Dock.  In 1980, he graduated from West Torrance High School.

He has lived in various places, including Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1981 and Anniston, Alabama in 1982.  He moved to Carthage, New York in 2014. 

He retired as a SGT First Class of the United States Army at Fort Drum, New York.

On July 7, 2018 he married Aimee Giambra. 

Brian had a love for photography, nature, animals and people.  He was always able to find beauty amongst the darkness. 

He is survived by his wife, Aimee; his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Butch Dock of Washington; two daughters, Jessica L. Whitney of San Angelo, TX; Christina Michelle Whitney of Westminster, CO; a son, Lawrence Alexander Whitney and his fiancée Alana Belle Riley of Jackson, TN; two stepsons, Paul Giambra III of Greeley, CO; Stanley Giambra of Loveland, CO; one sister, Rhonda Tangye of Evans, CO; an aunt, Kathleen Johnson of Lawrence, MA; a dog companion, Stella; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and cousins. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.  There will be a gathering at the Carthage VFW Post 7667 immediately following the service on Friday.
