Obituary of Betty J. Myers

CARTHAGE – Betty Jeanne Myers, 88, of S. Washington St., passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Samaritan Medical Center.

Betty was born on August 31, 1930 in Champion, NY, a daughter of the late Alva and Clara Mae (Patchen) O’Connell. She attended school in Brownville and Felts Mills, NY. Betty went on to work as a laborer for the former Jefferson County Manufacturing Company in Watertown, NY.

On December 1, 1948, Betty married Albert Eugene Myers at the Asbury Methodist Church in Watertown, NY. Albert passed away on March 4, 1998.

She loved to watch game shows and she enjoyed going shopping when she was able to. Betty and Albert were also foster parents for 25 years.

Betty is survived by her children, Carol (Richard) Beirman, Herrings, NY; Cindy Burke, Carthage, NY; Stephen Myers, Black River, NY, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Myers, Carthage, NY; 17 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is predeceased by her husband, Albert; a son, Richard Myers; six sisters, Lucille Oliver; Clarabelle Plank; Pauline Dingman; Natalie Hill; Roberta Rose; Keitha Rose and two daughters; Debra Sue Myers; Beverly Ann Myers; one brother, Keith O’Connell, twin of Keitha.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God church at 10 Martin Rd, Carthage, NY 13619.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 10-2PM at the Calvary Assembly of God church in Carthage. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 PM with Pastor David Frank officiating.
