Obituary of Sandra J. Lawton

CARTHAGE – Sandra J. “June” Lawton, 74, of Alexandria St., passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.

Sandra was born on November 17, 1944 in Carthage, New York, the daughter of Clinton W. and Josephine (Baker) Lawton.  She attended Carthage High School and went on to work on the assembly line for Northland Motors, a branch of the Scott Fetzer Company. 

Sandra was a natural caretaker, supporting her mother throughout her entire adult life and acting as a “mom” to many. She was a cherished presence in many families.

She loved country music, Loretta Lynn & Patsy Kline, and played the guitar. 

She is survived by two sisters, Geraldine F. George of Watertown and Lillian (Gary) Fayette of Gouverneur; a brother, Edwin Lawton of Carthage; a nephew who was also her caretaker, “Eddie” Lawton; and a cousin, Mary Baker Niers.

She is predeceased by two sisters, Leona M. Doyle and Genevieve Hubbard as well as two brothers, Roger and James Lawton.

No public services will be held.  A burial in Hillside Cemetery will be held at a later date.
