COPENHAGEN – Michael J. Swain, 48, 32223 New York State Route 12, died Sunday morning, December 11th at Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse. He was injured in a snowmobiling accident near his home on Saturday.
Born on March 10, 1968 the son of Donald B. & Susan S. Mulvaney Swain. He graduated from Copenhagen Central School in 1986 and from Canton ATC with the Class of 1988. Michael was employed by Murcrest Farms in Rutland for 28 years.
He enjoyed four wheeling and snowmobiling; he collected miniature scale farm equipment.
He is surved by his Mother, Susan Swain, Tylerville, his brother Brian and his wife Betty, his sister Dawn Breyette and her husband Michael, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by his father, Donald, who died in 2002, as well as his grandparents, Rayfield "Pat" & Margaret Mulvaney and Bruce & Shirley Swain.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 AM at the Chapel at 10229 Washington St., Copenhagen, with the Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 16th from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Spring burial will be held in Tylerville Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc.
