COPENHAGEN – John Engelhart, 70, formerly of the Woodbattle Rd., Copenhagen, died early Sunday morning, December 18, 2016 at the Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where he had been a resident since 2012. Born at the former Mercy Hospital in Watertown on October 27, 1946, the son of Frederick G. & Anna Marie Wheeler Engelhart. He earned several college degrees from colleges in Watertown, Buffalo and Albany. He served in the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam Era. He then went on to retire from the Office of Personnel Management on Fort Drum. John loved to learn and enjoyed reading. He also was an avid motorcycle rider, a gunsmith and he enjoyed archery. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Ann Reynolds, Rodman. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 21st at 7:00 PM at the Chapel at 10229 Washington St., Copenhagen, with the Rev. Samuel P. Lundy, officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday prior to the service at the Chapel from 2-4 & 5-7 PM. Special thanks are extended to the "His girls on the 3rd Floor at Sam Keep". Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
