CARTHAGE – Leon G. Vaughn, Jr., 72, 10579 NY State Rte. 126, died Saturday afternoon, December 31, 2016 at home, under the care of his family and Hospice of Lewis County.
Born at the Oneida County Hospital in Rome, NY on January 30, 1944, the son of Leon G. Vaughn, Sr. & Luella Starks Vaughn; he attended local schools. He was employed as a Machinist for Carthage Papermakers for many years. Marriages to Betty Pierce and Debbie Reynolds ended in divorce. He married Stephanie Fuller on August 1, 1987.
Leon is survived by his wife, Stephanie, at home and his children; Leon G. Vaughn III, Lisa Jean Vaughn, Chanelle Vaughn and Dustin Fuller, along with his granchildren; Leon Vaughn IV, Marley Fuller and Deacon Fuller. Also surviving are his siblings and their spouses; Marshall & Jane Vaughn, Karen & Herman Streiff, Trummin & Charlene Vaughn, Mark & Cathy Vaughn, Bruce & Leona Vaughn, Gary & Chris Vaughn, Dwayne & Wendy Vaughn and Grace & Vic Carr.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Donna Davis, Richard Vaughn, Arlene Babcock, Barbara Rumble and Lydia Duffney.
There will be no public funeral or calling hours. His family has requested that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Lewis County or St. Jude's Hospital. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
