COPENHAGEN – Wilfred "Russell" Carter, 83, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at Carthage Hospital Skilled Nursing Home. Russell was born on September 17, 1933 in Copenhagen to Nelson Edwin Carter and Nellie Jane Hopseker. Russell graduated high school from Copenhagen Central in 1952. He worked at Agway in Watertown & Castorland until he retired and also worked on his family farm for 20 years. He loved his dog, Tasha. He is survived by his brother Gerald (Sally) Carter of Copenhagen, and his sister Ruby Jean (Milton) Lehman of Croghan. He is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by siblings Velma (Clarence) Fenton, Shirley (Fuller) Colvin, Kenneth (Martha) Carter, and Bernard (Dorothy) Carter. Arrangements are with Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 1-2pm at The Chapel, 10229 Washington St., Copenhagen, NY. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00pm at The Chapel in Copenhagen. Spring burial will be in Swinburne Cemetery in Deer River.
