Obituary of Arlene Camidge
CARTHAGE – Arlene Camidge, 70, of Furnace Street, Carthage died Wednesday afternoon, July 5, 2017 at SUNY Upstate Medical University.
Arlene was born in Lowville, New York on July 15, 1946, a daughter of the late Reuben and Melvina Bunker Zehr. She graduated from Carthage Central High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Carthage Area Hospital, and also worked as a deli and bakery clerk at Super Duper in Carthage. On May 28, 1966 she married Gene Camidge. She then worked at home to raise their three children.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gene; three children, Duane Camidge of Florida; Laurie Camidge and her fiancé Charles Terry Jr. of West Carthage; Michael Camidge, at home; three brothers, Roy and his wife Shirley of Canastota; Melvin and his wife Mary of Glenfield; Daniel and his wife Janet of Carthage; six grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Gordon Zehr and a sister, Belle Riley.
She enjoyed going for walks, bird watching, and drinking coffee on her front porch. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
No funeral service will be held. Calling hours will be Monday, July 10, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in C/O Laurie Camidge, 313 Furnace St., Carthage, NY 13619.
