Obituary of Mack Agaciewski

Henderson-Mieceslaw (Mack) Agaciewski, 87, Henderson, N.Y. passed away Tuesday Nov. 14, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. An open house will be held at 14119 Bishop Street Rd., Adams from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, November 24, 2017. There will be a celebration of life TBD in the spring. Donations in his name can be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or the Smithville Fire Dept. Mack was born Dec. 4, 1929 in Sears Pond, Montague, N.Y. to Casmir and Anastasia Agaciewski. He was the youngest of six children. He attended Henderson Central School while working on the family farm. On May 15, 1950 he married Grace Elnore Shaver. She put up with him for 65 years until her passing in 2015. He had four children; Michael (Kay) Agaciewski, Woodville, N.Y., Marianne Agaciewski, Henderson, N.Y., Michele (John) Paugh, Port Kent, N.Y. and Marcia (Arthur) Distasi Henderson, N.Y. He enjoyed his grandchildren when they visited; Heather Agaciewski, Anastasia (Zach) Shepard, Patrick (Tess) Agaciewski, Meaghan and Logan Paugh, Sadie (Henry) Anchundia, Sophie (Josh) Salisbury, Mackenzie Fleury, Cyrus Fleury and Jena. He especially took pleasure in his great grandchildren and loved their hugs; Nicholas and Lucas Bray, Ashlynn, Greyson and Shaelyn Agaciewski, Emery Paugh, Lily Anchundia, Madeline and Lenora Salisbury. Mack retired from the Local Carpenters Union #278, he worked all over N.Y. State on many projects including the St. Lawrence Seaway, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Plant, Missile Silo's in the Adirondacks, schools, dams and bridges. He employed many local young men thru the years remodeling cottages and docks in Henderson Harbor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, canoeing, socializing, dancing, and shuffle board. Not necessarily in that order. He was a hard worker, a good provider and loved to wheel and deal. He enjoyed a full life and was always quick to laugh. Some of his favorite stories included; his dog sled team on the farm, Polish dances in Lowville, cooking BBQ chicken at the Smithville Fire Dept. field days (of which he was a member for 50 years), piloting the ferry for Association Island, Dolly (the family horse), his camp in Barnes Corners and working with 'the boys' in the Harbor. On his final night, an early birthday celebration was had. He joked with his family and especially enjoyed his T-shirt from Spencer's. One of his last statements to his family was to be proud of your heritage (worded slightly different) And we are. Thanks Dad. Ostro Imprezowa?.
