Carthage- William E. Wood, 76, formerly of Theresa, died on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County, under the loving care of his family and Hospice.
William was born on March 15, 1941 in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Harlen James & Jennie Irene Brown Wood. He attended High School in Star Lake, and graduated from Canton ATC. He served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965. He married Velma Jean Barkley on April 19, 1969 in Depeyster, New York. He worked for Bernier Carr & Associates as a Draftsman Inspector in Watertown until his retirement.
He enjoyed carving and woodworking, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and attending and participating in decoy shows.
He is survived by his wife, Velma, Carthage; three daughters, Michelle Wood and her companion Doug Watson, Canada; Suzanne Wood-Dertinger and her husband William, Clayton; and Heather and her companion William R. Martle, Deer River. He is also survived by a brother, Harlen and his wife Janet Wood, Louisville, NY and two grandchildren, Alexander Wood and Ethan Berry; a nephew, Brian Wood, Louisville; and a niece, Cheryl Wood, Florida; and in-laws, nieces, and nephews from Canada.

Family and Friends invite the public to attend a Celebration of Life and a Reception with food will be held at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage, on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 2:00pm-5:00pm, there will be a Military Service at 5:00pm in the Chapel.
