CARTHAGE-Veronica(Bonnie) M. Snyder, 95, of Old State Road, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at her home under the care of her family. She was born on December 12, 1922 in the Town of Champion to the late Frank & Mary Ellen Wood LaChausse.
She graduated from West Carthage High School in 1939. She graduated from the Watertown School of Nursing in 1964 where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and furthered her education at Potsdam State and Jefferson Community College. She loved her work in the pediatrics unit at Watertown Hospital. She also worked at Moongate Nursing Home, Potsdam Hospital, and as a private duty nurse for several years. She worked at Carthage Hospital as an LPN from 1976 until her retirement.
She married Carl H. Snyder on January 29, 1941 at the St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. Mr. Snyder died on February 24, 1980.
She was a member of the Licensed Practical Nurse Association, the RiverBank Grange and later the Silas Wright Grange in Canton, and the St. James Catholic Church of Carthage. She was an active 4-H Club leader for 28 years for Beaver River 4-H Club then later Paradise Valley 4-H Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Stone, Carthage; three sons, Wesley, Canton, Lynden, Colton, and Arthur, Lansing, NY. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She is pre-deceased by six sisters and six brothers.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm in the Lundy Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held in the spring at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Zecher Road, Carthage, NY.
