Obituary of Dorothy M Bloss

CARTHAGE- Dorothy M. Bloss, 89, formerly of 10900 NYS Route 26, died on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Carthage Area Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, where she has been a resident since October of 2010. Born on Decmber 31, 1925 in Adams, NY, the daughter of William & Ida Mae Patterson Burke. She attended local schools. She married Cecil C. Bloss on September 29, 1943 at St. Patrick's Church in Watertown. Dorothy was formerly employed at Mercy Hospital in Watertown and was Cecil's bookkeeper for his contracting business; she later worked for the Officer's Club on Ft. Drum. Cecil passed away on July 22, 2009. She was a member of The St. James Catholic Church, Carthage, a 56 year member and two-time Past President of the Carthage American Legion Bassett-Baxter Post #789 Ladies Auxiliary and a Life Member of the Carthage Veterans of Foreign Wars Dionne-Rumble Post #7227 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Bloss is survived her sons, Robert (Judith) Bloss, Port Orange, Florida; Gerald W. Bloss and his companion, Gail House, Carthage and Richard (Shirley) Bloss, Carthage. Also surviving are her half-brothers; Kenneth and Ronald Gaines, 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Cecil Burke, Frederick Burke, Clifford Burke and Mary Towne, her twin sister, Doris Nevills and one grandchild. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, with The Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor of St. James Church, Carthage, officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-3:00 PM. Burial will be held in the spring in Riverside Cemetery, Copenhagen.
