RODMAN-Russell N. Moseley, 56, Rodman, NY passed away May 6 at Crouse Hospital after a courageous four year battle with prostate cancer. Russ was born in Hawkesbury Ontario Canada on June 19, 1961, the fourth child of Harry R. & Jacqueline G. Hodgins Moseley. Russ graduated from Thousand Islands High School in 1979.
Russ married Karen Dine on November 7, 1982. They have two children: Russell (Kristin) Moseley, Peyton, Colorado & Amanda (Daniel) Davis, Carthage, NY.
Russ worked for his father at Panorama Farms before entering the Department of Corrections in September 1984. He retired in 2009. While working for the Department, he also attended the Black River Valley Police Academy and worked for various agencies in Jefferson, Oswego & Lewis counties including Sackets Harbor, Pulaski, Carthage, West Carthage, Lowville, Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, and Adams. He retired from police work in February 2017 due to health reasons.
Russ enjoyed boating and LOVED the St. Lawrence River. He also coached hockey in both Salmon River and Watertown. He enjoyed hunting when given the opportunity and most recently spending time with his grandson Mason. He was looking forward to meeting grandson #2, Carter, in June.
Russ was predeceased by both his parents. Surviving besides those listed above are four siblings; Susan Moseley & Eugenia Hill, Burlington, NC; Harry & Debra Moseley, Rodman, NY, Kim & Dave Capicchioni, Walton, NY, Robert & Deborah Moseley, Burlington, NC; a sister in law and her husband Sharon & Arthur Gamble, Clayton, NY & a brother in law & his wife, Stanley & Virginia Dine, Clayton, NY, as well as nieces, nephews, their spouses & children, aunts , cousins, & friends.
At Russ’ request, there will be no calling hours or funeral. Russ was adamant and told everybody he wants his family to have a party for him and they will do that on a date to be determined. Russ further stressed that this event was not to occur on a beautiful summer weekend as nobody should have to give up a boating/camping weekend.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Hematology Oncology Associates and Dr. Deblasio's office for the care given to Russ the last seven years.
