Obituary of Keegan C. Willis
CARTHAGE – Keegan Christopher Willis, 25, of S. Clinton St., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at his home.
Keegan was born on August 24, 1994 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, a son to Matthew Willis and Amber Yancey. Keegan grew up in Carthage, where he attended Augustinian Academy and Carthage High School. He graduated in 2013 and went on to study at Jefferson Community College for a year. Keegan had a love for all sports and excelled in any that he played. He played for both school and community sports teams; including lacrosse, soccer, basketball and tennis. Keegan went on to work at Slack Chemical as a forklift operator.
Keegan was an all-around great guy. He was the sweetest, most compassionate person. He was always known as a true friend and he consistently kept up with everyone in his life. He had a love for children, animals, his family and his friends. Keegan always stood up for others and put them before himself. He was always the “peace keeper” in his family. He lived with his partner, Chrissy, who is expecting their child in 2020. Chrissy’s son, Owen, was a major part in Keegan’s life and even thought about adopting him as his own son. He had a fun-loving sense of humor and was known to have a contagious personality. He was known as the family jokester. Keegan loved music; he was a fan of Blink 182 and Frank Sinatra. He was a major fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and Yankees. Keegan was also a history enthusiast. But most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his parents, Matthew Willis, Carthage, NY; Amber (John) Yancey, Lowville, NY; his partner, Chrissy Leggero, Carthage, NY; brother, Kyle (Emily) Willis, TX; sisters, Shayla, Kayleigh, Rebecca and partner Tyler, NC, Jennifer and Jessica; 2 step-brothers, John Ethan and Nolan; a step-sister, Sarah; maternal grandparents, Nancy Devitt and Karl Besteder; two nieces, Annabel and Leah; a nephew, Landon; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
